Testimonials from people who have purchased my books
...

"I started using your tutorial book a little over three weeks ago, and am absolutely delighted with the improvement in my playing.   In all seriousness, I'd say I've leapt forward about a year in just that short period.   I had the banjo out at a session for the first time last night and was absolutely flying through the tunes.    Everything nice and relaxed, no tension, nice sweet trebles all round, even on some of my more tricky tunes.   I have also found the emphasis on relaxed breathing to be of major assistance.   That said, I've still a bit of work to do on my old tunes to get them up to par, but I really feel like I've improved hugely with your approach, which was actually remarked upon by other musicians at the session.   I am now looking forward to moving on to the second of your books, and would recommend both of them to players at all levels. "

"I have already gained a lot from beginning your first volume last night - I think these books will revolutionise my approach and my playing"

Edgar B, UK

“I would like to let you know that as a complete novice who had never even held a banjo or plectrum until the day I bought your book, I have found it easy to read and understand and it is making learning the banjo as enjoyable as I hoped it would be.”

Michael R. Ireland

“Thanks a million. Your first tutor was fantastic and has advanced my playing more than anything else I've done. I'm very excited about getting my hands on the new one. Keep up the good work.”

Glenn K. Ireland

"I ordered Volume II today and I just wanted to thank you for doing this. Volume I was excellent and what I used to learn. I'm excited to get the new one."

“Your tutor makes practicing the banjo a delight and I am really grateful for it. I have always found it hard to get properly organized and this gives me a lot of structure. You seem to be the tutor I never had ....!”

Albrecht, Germany

“I received my tutor on  Tuesday 12/16 and this morning 12/18 I feel that my playing has made a quantum leap... all I've done is read how to hold the instrument and done the plucking exercises. THANKS!”

Gail, USA

Enda Scahill from Galway is one of the best banjo players in Ireland, released debut solo album "Pick It Up" in 2000 and collaboration with Paul Brock "Humdinger" in 2006.  He also has a teaching career spanned nearly 20 years, and has qualifications to explain technics coherently such as distinction between trebles and triplets.
In this book, he gives clear and detailed instructions on how to hold the banjo and the plectrum using photos for absolute beginners, and then, he refers to advanced technics and various types of ornamentation with selected 50 tunes.  It can be described as the first comprehensive Irish banjo tutorial, and a companion to experienced players having some problems as well.

“Enda,
Just a quick note to let you know that the Tutor arrived safely and to thank you for the prompt service.
I've had a quick read and listen through the material and I'm delighted with it.  I think you have pitched it perfectly and it was very pleasing to listen through the CD and realise that the first 47 tunes are played at the perfect tempo for learning the techniques and tunes.
I've tried quite a few banjo and mandolin tutors (its almost like a hobby in itself) and this is the first one I've read and listened to where the player is not just demonstrating their own virtuosity and forgetting about us less able students altogether.  I look forward to getting through to the advanced section - and I bet my family does as well - believe me it'll be them who will thank you most if I get there.”

John M, UK

“Really am enjoying your book.  I have had a lot of problems with tension in my playing and your suggestions on how to hold the banjo and placement of the right hand really helped enormously.  It's just a little hard to break old habits, but I'm struck by how much more relaxed my hand is now and how I'm getting better accuracy and a clearer, more even sound.  So we all owe you thanks for doing the book!”

David R, USA

“Enda,
I received your tutor yesterday and it's just great!! I am a mandolin player who wants to purchase an Irish tenor and the plucking sections are excellent.  Most books I have seen don't concentrate on this important aspect of playing.”

Gus, USA

“Dear Enda,
I bought your banjo tutor a while ago and it’s superb. The exercises have also improved my mandolin playing, and I feel as if I ‘own’ my little finger since your emphasis of relaxation and positioning means that it no longer sticks out as if I was drinking tea at a posh garden party.”
