Enda Scahill is one of Ireland's most respected traditional musicians, widely regarded as a leading authority on the Irish tenor banjo. Born and raised in Ireland, Enda's musical journey began in the rich tradition of Irish session culture, where the tenor banjo's distinctive voice — bright, percussive, and unmistakably Irish — captured his imagination from an early age. That early passion would eventually carry him to the highest levels of competitive traditional music, earning him multiple All-Ireland titles and cementing his reputation as a player of exceptional technical ability and deep stylistic authenticity.
Performance
Based in Galway, Enda is a fixture of the city's legendary traditional music scene. Internationally he has performed live with Bela Fleck The Chieftains, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Carlos Nunez, and Eileen Ivers, has recorded with Grammy winners Ricky Skaggs, Bryan Sutton and Aubrey Haynie, toured with Frankie Gavin and Stockton’s Wing.
Enda is now performing live with Italian American crossover band GADAN and with Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy and The Celtic All Stars
Recording Career
Enda has recorded and produced 3 x Irish Times Album of the Year albums with The Dark Well, We Banjo 3, and Paul Brock.
His debut album Pick It Up is recognised as one of the most influential and important Irish banjo records.
We Banjo 3 recorded 7 albums, including 3 x Billboard #1 Albums.
